One offender then stood by the front door of the property, one was stood on the road keeping lookout and the third then entered the vehicle. The offenders were then scared away by the car alarm, the owner of the vehicle and neighbours making themselves known.
If your vehicle has keyless entry and you are concerned regarding the security of this feature then investigate whether it is possible to switch your car key’s signal off. Check your manual to find out if your key has this function or ask your dealer if the system can be disabled.
Never leave your vehicle insecure or leave valuable items in your vehicle.
Installing a steering wheel lock, driveway parking post and/or a wheel clamp are great deterrents to car thieves. Please ensure that the keys to the steering wheel lock are kept separate to your car keys.
As an added protection against keyless theft you can also purchase a signal blocking pouch or tin and install a tracking device on your vehicle to aid in the recovery should your vehicle be stolen.
Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting high visibility patrols of your area. Should you see anything that you deem to be suspicious then please either call 101 in a non emergency or report it via our online system at www.west-midlands.police.uk. In an emergency always call 999
